Online Professional Development Courses for Educators
Courses
are six to eight weeks in duration. They are instructor-led by an
experienced or former K-12 classroom teacher. Students can expect
to spend approximately 10 to 12 hours per week on the coursework.
This includes the online portion of the class plus some "offline"
assignments.

Course Description: This course
provides participants the opportunity to identify, analyze,
and work toward eliminating both personal and institutional
bias as barriers to equity in schooling. Topics Include: the
importance of continuous reflection on personal bias, and
understanding power and privilege in schooling. Recognizing
the need to eliminate bias in the classroom, learning about
the diversity in our district, and learning about institutionalized
bias and teacher agency will also be featured. Students will
understand the impact of cultural experiences, history and
traditions on student learning.
